OpenAI says the US infrastructure associated with its Stargate effort has exceeded the 10-gigawatt capacity target originally set for 2029. The company reports that more than 3 gigawatts were added to its pipeline in the preceding 90 days.
The update frames compute as an ecosystem rather than a single data center: sites, energy, chips, networking, construction, financing, and local partnerships have to advance together.
The numbers describe secured and planned capacity, not necessarily 10 gigawatts already operating. That distinction will be central to tracking the buildout as announcements become construction and construction becomes available inference.
